Continuation from Day 2 : Trip to Kuching..

On third day, we planned a series of places to visit lined up for us.

I'm ready..

Me too..

Let's go.. have some fun..

The day was bright and sunny. It was such a good day for us to continue our trip. So we went to Satok Weekend Market at Jalan Satok which was a colorful place which the villagers bring their fresh jungle herbs and fruits not available elsewhere. This very popular market in Kuching starts on Saturday afternoon till Sunday.

"Visitors should not miss Pasar Satok as the busy market offers views of diverse cultures, a cacophony of unfamiliar languages (especially for those familiar with standard Malay and English) and an assortment of products"

Let's have a walk around.. what they do sell here??

Chickens..

A variety of seafood..

Fresh fish..

Ulat sagu.. boleh makan ke?

Ikan pari..

Pineapples..

Souvenirs.. fridge magnet & key-chain..

Colorful souvenirs for kids..

The 'must-buy' from Satok Market.. the fresh Ikan Terubuk Masin Sarawak

We went to the next market, Serikin Indonesia Border Market later. It was located 90km from Kuching. Actually we didn't quite sure with the route to go there, so we just followed the sign board to Bau and had asked a guy at petrol station for the direction. When we arrived there it was already noon so we just have a couple hour to shop there.

Serikin is a market at the border of Sarawak and Kalimantan, Indonesia where visitors can buy Indonesian products at good bargain price. Serikin is opened on Saturday (8 a.m - 5 p.m) and Sunday (8 a.m - 2 p.m) only.

Tikar Sarawak..

Rattan chair..

Colourful textiles..

The border between Malaysia and Indonesia..

It was almost 2pm and most of the shops are going to close. Since the day became too hot, we decided to move to our next destinations, Sarawak Cultural Village then.

Sarawak Cultural Village should not be missed if you're planning to visit Kuching. It is located on the foothills of Mount Santubong and takes about 45 minutes from Kuching city center. Sarawak Cultural Village is home to many of the ethnic Sarawak tribes.

It's show time..

The show has just right to start when we arrived at the Dewan Lagenda. We still could see the show pretty much eventho we had to sit at the back. We're enjoying the cultural show.

Wow..he able to lift the wood with his teeth..

The ending dance.. the audience was invited to dance together..

After the show, we continued to visit the cultural houses but managed to visit only a few of them because it was almost 5 p.m and they are going to close already. I just wondering if we had be here in the morning, maybe we would be able to cover up all the houses.

Penan Hut..

Before going back to hotel, we went to our last stop for the day.. Kek Lapis Dayang Salhah. Mommy wanted to borong kek lapis..hehe..

Kek Lapis is a trademark of Sarawak's product. The best place if you're looking for a good kek lapis in Kuching is Kek Lapis Dayang Salhah. I highly recommended this place and you won't be regret. It is a family business that produce homemade layered cake in various types and attractive designs.

The signboard..

Welcome to Kek Lapis Dayang Salhah..

The very interesting about Kek Lapis Dayang Salhah was you may tasted it first the cake (as much as you can) before choosing the one that you fancy on the shelves.. macam datang beraya la plak.. :) Even the shop assistants will cut the cake which is not available on the testing tray that you wish to try.

Nice to see..nice to taste.. :)

Taste at your own risk.. no drinks is provided..

Seating area where guests can have their hands-on kek lapis.

The varieties of cakes displayed on shelves with prices..

Let's choose..

Swiss Roll (comes with various design) & Kek dalam kek..

The most popular choices of kek lapis was Lapis Blueberry and Lapis Masam Manis. Btw, I bought more than ten kek lapis (if you buy ten you'll get one free) for myself, families, and friends.

They also have packing service in special boxes with fragile sticker. No worries.. it was well-packed to bring along on the the flight.

Nice packaging..

At the night, we had our dinner at the Top Spot Seafood Centre (Taman Letak Kereta), suggested by one of my brother-in-law's friends. The place was crowded with locals and visitors. We just choose the first stall which is the only Malay stall there.

Muslim Seafood (the first stall) was the only Malay stall there.

While waiting for the order..

So this is what we had for our dinner..

Ikan Siakap Masak 5 rasa..

Tomyam..

Udang Masak Pedas..

Ayam Masak Kicap..

And of course.. nasi putih..

Our usual order drinks..

..and the price was reasonable.

It was a very long and tiring day. At the end of the day, I was desperately need a nice sleep, the only thing across in my head. :)

Day 4.. to be continued..
